A Beacon of Armenian Faith & Culture in Venezuela
The Armenian diaspora in Venezuela was formed in the early 20th century. They were immigrants from the Middle East, especially Syria, who were forced to leave their land to escape the Armenian Genocide that developed in the Ottoman Empire. Currently in Venezuela there are about 4,000 Armenians, of which 1000 live in Caracas.
To meet the needs of the religious community, the Church was built in Caracas. The temple honors St. Gregory the Illuminator, who spread Christianity in Armenia at the end of the 3rd century and the beginning of the 4th century.
